Starbucks redesign for iOS7

I decided to redesign the Starbucks app for fun, since it hasn't been updated in ages and could use a makeover for iOS7. I kept it within the Starbucks colors and did not take out any features that were already in place. The major changes were:

In the original Starbucks app, you were first sent to their home screen, which was just a panel of more choices:

Original home screen

This seemed impractical to me, since the main function of the app is to pay for purchases and earn rewards. Exploring the menu and and finding locations are also major uses for the app, but I ranked them second in importance since paying seemed the most time sensitive. Based on that, I rearranged the bottom navigation bar and set it to arrive at "My Card" when you first open the app.

My Card, before and after.

I added a small feature here where you can annotate your cards (like "From Aunt Petunia"). Most of the cards I have were given to me as gifts, and it's always nice to be reminded. Other than that, I didn't change too much here as far as features go.

I placed "Rewards" after "My Card" since it just made sense to group those two together. I don't think the Rewards section needs a drastic visual redesign - in fact, the animations when you tilt your phone are delightful and I think it's a very memorable part of the app.

The stars move around in the cup, based on the phone's orientation. The background color changes based on your level of membership.

As for the food/drinks/coffees, I took it out of the original home screen panel and made it its own section called "Menu." It seems like the menu would be a very important piece of information to showcase, and I felt like it was lost in the original Starbucks app. I decided to redesign a sub-menu page and a specific product page:

Drink page, before and after

My main goal here was to make the layout less crowded and overwhelming. There was a lot of text crammed into the original layout, and I wanted to focus on the the product, allowing users to explore more information (ie: nutrition) if they wanted to, but not displaying it all at once.

I renamed the "Stores" tab to "Locations" for clarity, but didn't work on redesigning the page.

Finally, for all of the other features that the app has, such as messages from Starbucks, app settings, etc., I put them under "More," since these features aren't used as frequently as the other parts of the app.

More

So yep, if I had to redesign the Starbucks app with minimal changes to its features while maintaining the Starbucks colors, this is what it'd look like.
