Hoppin John

Thanks to Angela Allsopp for teaching me how to make this

  1. Chop up hotdogs (3) into small discs
  2. Mince garlic
  3. Saute hotdogs until brown
  4. Add in garlic and saute for another minute or so
  5. Add in can of diced tomatoes
  6. Add some salt, black pepper, Texas Pete, a little Worcestershire, and red chili flakes
  7. Add some water, ~1 cup or so, and add in rice. I like short grain brown rice and use about 1/2 cup
  8. Let simmer for ~30 mins, or until rice is almost fully cooked
  9. Add in can of black eyed peas
  10. Simmer for a bit longer, adding more water as needed, making sure nothing sticks to the pot
  11. Eat!
